Protection

Working dogs,
Personal protectionFrench Ring · PSA · IGPScent work

Personal protection from deterrent level to executive detail, sport dog coaching for French Ring, PSA and IGP, and scent work from tracking to shed hunting. Built on obedience first, always.

Included

The working-dog programs.

01

Protection Training

Customized to the outcome you want, from a visible deterrent to a dog that performs as an independent security detail. Control comes before bite work, every time. Entry-level protection is a six-week minimum board and train, and you attend two sessions with your dog before it ends.

02

Sport Dog Coaching

French Ring, PSA, IGP and Mondio. Eric Galayda reached the highest level of French Ring with his own dog, Dapper, and still competes.

03

Scent & Nose Work

Tracking, scent detection, barn hunt and antler shed hunting. Compete, or just build a stronger dog and a stronger bond.

04

Retriever & Hunting Dogs

Eric's background includes training labs for duck-hunt retrieves. Gun dogs get real field work, not a parking lot.

05

Evaluation First

Not every dog is a protection dog. We temperament test honestly and tell you what your dog is, before you spend a dollar on bite work.

The process

From evaluation to the field.

01

Evaluate

Temperament, drives, nerves and obedience baseline. A straight answer about the dog's ceiling.

02

Foundation

Obedience and control to a working standard. Nothing else starts until this holds.

03

Specialize

Protection, sport or scent work, coached toward your goal and, if you want, toward the trial field.

Questions

Protection & Sport questions.

Do you train protection dogs in South Carolina?

Yes. Seeley Creek Canine in Chester, SC trains personal protection dogs at levels from deterrent to executive protection, and coaches sport dogs for French Ring, PSA and IGP. The owner, Eric Galayda, spent five years training alongside top protection-sport trainers and competed to the highest level of French Ring. Entry-level protection training is a six-week minimum. Owners attend training sessions with the dog twice before the program ends and commit to ongoing follow-up support.

Does my dog have to be a certain breed for protection work?

Breed matters less than temperament, nerves and drive. Seeley Creek Canine evaluates every dog before any protection work begins and will tell you plainly if a dog is not suited for it. Many dogs are better served by obedience and confidence work instead.

Can you help with an aggressive dog?

Yes. Seeley Creek Canine's foundation in protection and sport dogs is exactly why we are comfortable with dog and human aggression cases. We evaluate the dog, set boundaries, hold accountability and stay consistent. Aggression and Reactivity Management is a six-week minimum board and train that includes muzzle training for public safety. Aggressive dogs can also board with us after evaluation.
