Puppy Program

Raise the puppy
Under 6 monthsTwo phasesWeekly updates

House manners, focus, confidence and safe socialization built in the first months, before bad habits become the dog's personality. For puppies under six months, in two phases at the farm, with weekly updates so you can follow every step.

Included

What a puppy learns here.

01

Focus on the Handler

Name response, eye contact and engagement. A puppy that looks to you is a puppy you can teach anything.

02

House Manners

Crate comfort, settle behavior, door manners, no mouthing, no counter surfing. The rules of the house, learned early.

03

Confidence Building

New surfaces, sounds, people and places on the farm. A confident puppy becomes a stable adult dog.

04

Leash Foundation

Loose-leash walking and recall before pulling becomes a habit you spend years undoing.

05

Safe Socialization

Controlled exposure to other dogs and daily life, supervised by a trainer, so the lessons are good ones.

06

Two Phases

Phase 1, before six months old: a two-week board and train for housebreaking, crate training, leash manners, jumping, biting and nipping, socialization and exposure. Phase 2, at about six to eight months: the obedience is refined and off-leash control is built and proofed.

The process

Phase by phase.

01

Evaluate

We meet the puppy, talk vaccinations and goals, and confirm the timing. Phase 1 starts before six months old.

02

Build

Phase 1 at the farm: foundation, house manners and exposure, with weekly updates. Phase 2 at six to eight months: obedience refined and off-leash control proofed.

03

Hand off

You take over with a routine that works, the marker system, and a full year of go-home lessons behind you.

Questions

Puppy Program questions.

How old should my puppy be to start training at Seeley Creek Canine?

Puppy Freedom Unleashed is for puppies under six months. Phase 1 is a two-week board and train before six months old, once your veterinarian clears the puppy for a training environment. Phase 2 follows at about six to eight months. Earlier is better; the consult confirms timing for your puppy.

Is puppy training reward-based?

The foundation work at Seeley Creek Canine is reward-based: we build the relationship and the desire to work first. Corrections are never used to teach something a puppy does not yet understand. Structure and boundaries are added as the puppy matures.
